Milli Vanilli, the pop duo who were stripped of a Grammy Award after it was discovered they never sung on their songs, are to be immortalised in a new film. Universal Pictures is developing the project, which has the support of former band member Fabrice Morvan and the estate of his colleague Rob Pilatus, who died of a drug overdose in 1998. The movie will be directed by Catch Me If You Can writer Jeff Nathanson. Speaking to Variety magazine, Nathanson said: « I’ve always been fascinated by the notion of fakes and frauds, and in this case, you have guys who pulled off the ultimate con, selling 30 million singles and 11 million albums and then becoming the biggest laughing stocks of pop entertainment ».
