The Old Curiosity Shop was built in 1567 and immortalised by Charles Dickens in his book of the same name. In 1992 shoemaker Daita Kimura started his business in this historical premises, turning it into a shop selling handmade shoes made on the premises.  These silk pieces have been specially created for oki-ni in conjunction with the Old Curiosity Store and award winning British textile designer Margo Selby. ‘The jacket shape had been created by the Old Curiosity Shop’s designers in a jersey fabrication which looked and felt fantastic so we bought some. Then they showed us some scarfs which were in such strong and interesting fabrics which we also bought. Then we thought, these jackets would be amazing in these fabrics, so, we decided to try producing one. When the sample came back it was obvious that we should produce these in a few different fabric options and we decided to give it a bit more of a summer feel by creating some oversized shorts to go with them. oki-ni is the only place in the world selling this product and there isn’t a lot of it.’ John Skelton, Creative Director. www.oki-ni.com/Old-Curiosity-Shop
